Adding A Message Board

Having a message board, or forum, is a great way to get traffic to your site. Once again, you can use a free service, listed in The Message Board Directory, or you can install your own message board...which of course requires some knowledge of cgi, and a visit to Matt's Script Archive.

If using a free service, you will want one that will allow you to configure your board. You usually can choose to moderate, or not moderate, the messages that are posted to your message board. Moderating is a good idea if you don't want people posting advertisements...because they will. But please be aware, that this can get to be very time consuming.

When you sign up with one of the free services, you will be given the correct HTML code to place on your page. Be sure to put it where you want the link to appear on the page.

To configure your message board, just follow the directions that the server provides for you. You should be able to choose your own title, colors, and a link back to your page, as well as be given the choice to moderate the board or not.
