The Complete HTML Teacher

Adding A Guestbook

Adding a guestbook to your page is probably one of the simpler things you will do. It's just a question of going to The Guestbook Directory, and deciding which guestbook service you would like to use. You are a beginner after all!

Of course, you can also make your own guestbook. You will need to learn everything in the CGI portion of this book first. Then, you will need to visit Matt's Script Archives for the correct script. This will need to be configured, but the directions are included.

Just a note...you are no longer in the world of HTML, you are entering the PERL zone. If you do not wish to learn PERL, or try to configure the script from Matt's Script Archives...take the easy way out and get a free service. With some of the free services, you can pay a very small monthly fee, and have their banner removed from the page.

The service you choose will give you the necessary HTML to cut and paste into your page, where you want the link for your guestbook...or they will simply give you the link...in which case, you will need to either make or find a button that can be clicked on, put the button on your page, and link it to that URL. Nothing could be easier!
